Tarot Tuesday for the Week of February 25, 2013

Happy Tuesday, everyone!  I hope your week is off to a good start.  How am I doing?  Oh.. I’m glad you asked.  Remember how I wanted to expand my closet?
It started last Saturday and included taking down the drop ceilings in the living room and office.  Because of a total miscommunication that I will blame on Mercury Retrograde I now have had to get an electrician involved and there may have to be some rewiring in my future.
Le sigh.
The good news is this pile of clothes is now in my dining room so I don’t have to sleep on top of it like the Princess and the Pea.  The bad news is renovations have come to a halt until I can figure out the electrical part.
Anyways…
It’s  Tarot Tuesday!
Here’s what is in store for us this week.

(look, I know that picture is sucky, but because Mercury is in retrograde from February 23–March 17 the servers at work are down too so I can't edit the picture.  Geez)

Tarot Outlook for the week of February 25, 2013
The 8 of Swords Reversed
The Tower Reversed
5 of Pentacles
Hey, the 8 of Swords is back this week!   Looks like we are still trying to let go of the fear of the unknown.  I know these rings true for me especially with the renovations happening. I want a new space but I am so resistant to the steps it takes to make these things happen even though I put them in motion.  We all need to take a deep breath and let the change happen.

The Reversed Tower card comes in and reiterates what the fear is:  Change.  It’s not as though this is an unseen force coming in and knocking us over.  We see the change that’s coming, and probably asked for it.  Now it’s here and we have to let it happen.

The last card is 5 of Pentacles.  Is this change leading to some kind of insecurity or financial trouble?  I know that miscommunication with this renovation may lead to me putting more money into this project than I wanted to.  The 5 of Pentacles also reassures us that this is not the end.  There is always a solution to our problem.

Oracle Card:  Solar Plexus Chakra

Don’t beat yourself up over the circumstances of the week!.. keep your self-esteem up and understand that these temporary obstacles are not  permanent fixtures in your life.   Keep your head up and persevere.

I hope this reading gave you some insight to the week ahead.  Let me know if it rings as true for you as it did for me.

** Just when I was going to paste this post onto the blog, Notes for the Universe dropped this in my mailbox:
Of course there's an easier way to get things done, Lanell!

Let me do them.

If you know what I mean.

Love, love -

Stopping Out Negative Energy

I had a rough morning, people.
Dreamt I was in the shower and on time to start my day when I  actually woke up an hour late.
The bus that I was supposed to take to get to work at a late but reasonable time broke down and was itself 20 minutes late.
It’s bitterly cold.
I didn’t have time to go to Dunkins.
After realizing that I was, in fact, not up and at ‘em, I lay in bed and attempted to visualize a good day at work.  This didn’t happen, because as soon as I could mentally see my job my body tensed up like  a dog on a leash when he doesn’t want to go into the vet.  I literally uuuuuggggggghhhhhhh’ed  in response.
Can you tell how I feel about sitting in a cubicle all day?
I berated myself for not getting up on time during my entire commute.  When I finally got to work and emailed my sister about the unsuccessful affirmation she said helpfully “You aren’t as positive as you think you are.”
Aren’t sisters great?
In true Law of Attraction form, right before I was about to give in to my urge to crawl under my desk and hide until 4:30, I got a newsletter from Tiny Buddha titled “3 Reasons to Stop Worrying About Your Negative Thoughts   I knew this article was written for me because the author, Lisa Eslie, wrote it while watching a Mad Men marathon which I have also been partaking in  via Netflix for the past week.
Don’t judge me.
This part jumped out at me:
You don’t have to analyze your nasty critical thoughts or worry about them. They’re just thoughts. If you really want to have fewer of them, stop listening to them.

So there.  I don’t have to be critical about my negative energy, I just have to tell it to STFU and get on with my day.  I can do that.  I say that exact phrase at least once a day under my breath to strangers and co workers.
Easy peasy.
So, my morning may have been crappy, and I may not be on vacation in Cuba (my new vacation fantasy obsession) but it doesn’t mean I  can’t turn my frown upside down (I’ve always wanted to say that).
I’m looking forward to the positive experiences that the rest of the day will bring (actually I’m looking forward to going home and watching Scandal).

How was your day?  How do you handle negative thoughts? Any tips for getting out of bed on time?
Let me know in the comments.

Blessings...

Tarot Head's Up for the Week of 2/18/13

Happy Tuesday, people!
So last week in an effort to be more productive with this blog I created  an editorial calendar using Google Calendar.  There are lots of "How to Create an Editorial Calendar" out there on the interwebs.   Once I procrastinated.. did reasearch by reading almost everything out there on editorial calendars I spent some time brainstorming about all the different blog entries I could write about.  Then I assigned one blog post to various days of the week and sent up reminders for when these posts would be due.
This was a very successful little endeavor except I never paid any attention to the reminders that I emailed to myself .
Whomp. Whomp.
Mondays are supposed to be the day I do a tarot head's up for the week ahead.  But I spent this past Monday watching old episodes of Mad Men.  (damn you,  Netflix Instant Queue!)
So this week I present Tarot Card Tuesday, which is a better name for it anyway.
Yes, ok.. I’ll try to do better next week.
For the tarot outlook I use the Rider Wait Tarot card deck.  I call it the My First Tarot Deck because it's usually the one everyone starts out with.  For the Oracle Card message of the week, I use Know Your Magic Oracle Cards.

Please know, these are just the cards I use because they ring true for me. You can use what ever you want.
I'm not the boss of you.

Ok, let's see what the Universe has in store for us this week.

Tarot Outlook for the week of February 18, 2013.
The Chariot
2 of Swords Reversed
8 of Swords
(yes, the pictues are crap, I know.  This is what happens when you are trying to sneak in a tarot card reading in your work cubicle.)
Hmm.. Success that can only be had when we stop protecting ourselves from the unknown.    We have to get out of our own way this week.   I don’t know about you guys, but I have trouble with exposure.  I’m a shy fat kid at heart and having people notice me sends me over the edge.   This is crazy making for me because if I want to have my own business which requires me to let people know what I do, I have to expose myself and LET PEOPLE KNOW WHAT I DO!
For this week, know that we can achieve our goals and  all we have to do is  peek out from behind the protective  wall we’ve created.
The fear we are fearing is imaginary.  It’s  time to stop trying to protect ourselves from the monster in the closet because the monster isn’t there.

Orcale Card:  Sis Monia: Birth right, focus
The Oracle card message for the week is to follow your purpose.  We are all here for a reason, we all have a destiny.  Now is the time to get to it.

Does this reading ring true for you?  Do you prefer tarot readings that are long and descriptive or short and to the point?  Drop me a comment and let me know .

I hope your week rocks!
Happiness and Blessings,

Lanell

Tarot Readings FAQ

How will you read my cards?
I use a combination of tarot cards and oracle cards for every reading.  Before the reading I clear the cards so that the only energy that comes through is yours.  I also ask for your spirit guides and mine to come through and help me read your cards for your highest good.  I believe that setting this intention helps me deliver a reading that only brings forth information that is positive.  If there is information that comes through in a reading that can be seen as negative, I believe that it is only coming through for your highest good.   What might be seen as disappointing information may actually be information you need to hear in order for you to make a clearer decision.
How accurate are tarot readings?
I believe most tarot readers are about 80% accurate. No one can read everyone, and there can always be misinterpretation.  No one knows everything.    Also, remember:   YOU are ALWAYS in charge of your own destiny. Your actions and thoughts determine the outcome.
Can you read everyone?

No.  In fact, I have a really difficult time reading my mother.  This might be because I’m too close to her and that closeness muddles my reading.  I also have a hard time reading myself. We all want events to turn out the way WE want them to turn out.  Tarot card readers are the same way.  This is why I go to someone else to get my cards read.

Also sometimes a person wants to know the answer to a question, but the answer is not available. Sometimes the question is not black and white.   If the answer is not present, I will tell you “I don’t know” and then give you the information I do receive about the question.
Sometimes the cards will give information in a reading that has nothing to do with the question asked.  This is because there is something happening in your life that you need to pay attention to that may be more important than the question you have.  Everything that comes up in a reading has value; pay attention to all information received.

What can I expect from a reading?

30-Minute Reading.   A 30-minute reading starts with a  general outlook of the year ahead. This outlook often gives you answers to the questions you may have.  Then I focus on the questions you want to ask.  During this time you can ask about anything you feel you need to know.  At the end I will read your message from the Oracle cards which is the over all message that your spirit guides feel you should focus on in your life at this time

15-Minute Reading.   15-minute readings focus solely on the questions that you have.

Email Readings.   Send me your questions along with any details that you feel may help with the reading.  I will answer questions within 48 hours which allows you to get answers to your questions as quickly as possible.

All phone readings are by appointment only.  Please make sure you check with me for my availability if you have a specific date or time in mind!

I also offer in person readings for those in the Brockton, MA area.    Please email me at cardsbylanell@gmail.com to make an in-person or party appointment.

How should I ask a question in a reading?
Just ask.  If you want to send the first name of the person you have a question about, that’s fine.  There is no need to go into specific detail.  Also, don’t ask the same question over and over in different ways expecting different answers;  it leads to unclear reading and it’s annoying.
PS.  Don’t ask questions you don’t want answers to.

How soon can I expect an appointment or response?
I try to answer questions as soon as I receive them.   Questions sent through email are answered within 48 hours.  For phone readings, your appointment can be scheduled a week or more in advance.
Please check with me for availability before paying for an appointment.  I do not offer same day appointments, and I do not shift around my schedule if you are late.

What type of clients will you refuse to read?
Clients who I perceive to be card reading addicts, rude, disrespectful or abusive.  Also clients who ask the same question continuously.  It’s aggravating.  Also if you are drunk or impaired in anyway.
Also if you are panicked or distressed.  In order to get a card reading, you need to be calm and focused.
The price for a reading is non-negotiable.
I do not answer questions on gambling, criminal activities, or dates of death.   I do not do readings for anyone under the age of 18 without a parent present.
I reserve the right to refuse service for any reason.  My goal is for my client to have a beneficial experience.  If I feel I cannot work with you, I am always happy to offer a referral for someone who may be more compatible.

My no-show policy
I require a 24 hour notice if you cannot make it.   If you do not show for a reading without a 24 hour notice, you will not get another reading.  ! If you do not show up for your appointment or if you do not give me a 24 hour notice for cancellation, your fee for the appointment will be forfeited.
How do I purchase a reading?
I accept payment by  PayPal.   Please go to the Private Tarot Reading and Party Rates post and choose a reading.  If you are having trouble using the PayPal buttons, send me and email at cardsbylanell@gmail.com and we’ll work it out.
Please remember:   A reader is not a licensed therapist.  If you have a mental issue, please seek the proper help.  Readings are for entertainment purposes only and are not a substitute for mental help.  A reader should not take the place of a doctor, lawyer or any other licensed professional.
